Quotation Guide

How to Send Drawings for Custom Stainless Steel Tube Quotation

A practical guide to preparing drawings, samples, and technical details for custom stainless steel tube quotation requests.

Why Drawings Matter

Custom tube quotation depends on clear geometry, material, surface, quantity, and inspection expectations. A drawing helps the supplier review feasibility, processing route, tooling needs, and inspection points before quoting.

For non-round sections, use Profiled Tube as a reference. For bent or expanded parts, review Flared Pipe Bend. Mechanical assemblies may involve Torque Tube, Serpentine Pressure Tube, or Automotive Bumper Beam depending on the application.

Preferred Drawing Information

Send drawings that show dimensions, material grade, wall thickness, length, profile shape, bend radius, bend angle, hole positions, end form, surface finish, and quantity. Include units and drawing revision.

If the part is used in an assembly, include the mating interface or a simple assembly view. This helps identify critical dimensions and surfaces that should not be treated as ordinary reference features.

When Drawings Are Not Available

If the buyer does not have a formal drawing, send a sample, marked photos, and a dimension list. Photos should show the whole part, cross-section, end shape, surface finish, and any important fit areas.

For a Flared Pipe Bend or Serpentine Pressure Tube, a simple centerline sketch is often useful because bend direction and end location are difficult to explain in text alone.

File and Communication Tips

Provide drawings in commonly used formats such as PDF for review, and include editable or CAD files if available. Keep material notes, finish notes, and quantity in the email or inquiry form as well, so the commercial and technical requirements are visible together.

If a drawing has confidential information, remove unrelated project details while keeping the tube geometry and purchase requirements clear.

What the Supplier Will Review

The supplier will usually review material availability, profile feasibility, forming route, surface finish, inspection scope, packaging, and whether a sample or tooling review is needed. Complex custom profiles may require additional confirmation before production.

Clear drawings reduce quotation uncertainty and help prevent later changes after the purchase order is placed.
